Personal profile
Calum Ross has been living and working in the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ since he bought the now 4-star Loch Melfort Hotel, near Oban, with his wife Rachel in 2008. He combines the challenges of small business ownership with a consultancy business, mentoring and advising SMEs across the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ and Islands, in a variety of industry sectors.
He is a former board member of VisitScotland and UK Hospitality. Prior to returning to Scotland, Calum was chief operating officer, Unilever Foodsolutions, Latin America, based in Sao Paulo.
External positions
Calum is a member of the new Tourism & Hospitality Industry Leadership group, a director of the Scottish Tourism Alliance, Argyll and the Isles Tourism Co-operative, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ & Islands Tourism Awards and Red Roof Business Support Ltd. Calum was appointed to the Court of the University of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ and Islands in January 2022 as the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ representative on the Court. In May 2024, Calum became a trustee and director of Kilmartin Museum.
